Jesus Bolt - 08/09/2021

In order to get the lower timing cover off the crank pulley must be removed. To remove the crank pulley, the Jesus bolt must be removed. The crank pully bolt is aptly named the Jesus bolt because it's a TTY bolt, installed with 100Nm of torque + 150º of rotation making it such a challenge to remove that you might find yourself calling on the almighty for help.

  • Turned crank pulley to 0 TDC then inserted locking pin
  • Installed crank pulley holding lever
  • Removed driver’s side front part of wheel well liner.
  • Broke loose the crank pulley bolt and removed crank pulley. Jesus bolt is loosely threaded in
  • Opened trunk and disconnected negative terminal of the battery
  • Put blocking material in the trunk so I don’t accidentally close the trunk
  • Removed cabin filters + cabin intake piping
  • Removed windshield wipers.
  • Removed and separated 2 part front cowl. 1-2 of the screw based plastic clips was stripped, but added tension allowed me to unscrew and remove.
  • Removed top of ECU cover.
  • Disconnected wiring related to topside of engine + ground (passenger side shock pillar) and laid it on top of the engine. This needs to done in tandem with the cowl removal
