Loose Ends / Exterior Reassembly - 08/15/2015

Some exterior work / loose ends I've wrapped up since May:

  • I redid the connection to the gas sump. Specifically I got rid of the shutoff valve because gave this whole Lowes brass pluming department vibe and apart from this mod I hopefully won't be digging into my fuel talk again.
  • I dyed my rear bumper trim
  • Installed my rear lights and plate
  • Installed my exhaust + swapped to my oval muffler (my favorite after trying both)
  • Installed my mik3ymomo hood props from his original GB 1 1/2+ years ago. I believe mattster03 has taken up the torch on these after Mike handed it over to him. I hate I haven't snapped any pics yet. It's definitely one of my favorite mods to date. So nice to not have to find my prop rod every time I want to pop the hood :D
  • Installed my front wipers + shroud
  • Installed my front signal lights
  • Installed my front lip
  • Installed my upper hatch trim
  • POR15'd my cobra axles and inners
  • Installed my new gentex active dimming rearview mirror with built in garage door opener

I also installed my WB sensor. This actually took me a few precious hours to settle on a good solution. John welded a O2 bung on the new exhaust's Y which made the WB sensor install trivial, but getting it wired was a nightmare as it didn't have an easy path to the cabin. I ended up creating a staggered set of holes through the tranny heatshield and the passenger tranny tunnel sidewall to get the wiring into cabin under the passenger's legs underneath the cabin. I abandoned the mil spec circular collector that I was using at the rear of my battery compartment (behind passenger seat )) so I had to completely redo the wiring for the sensor as well. I grommited the staggered hole and fed the wiring in. The grommit to wire connection is pretty tight so I think between the two it should be pretty water resistant. I would seal it with silicone or something, but the wire from the sensor to the grommit is only an inch or so long so as the exhaust moves the wire will need to push in and out if necessary. I didn't want to create a jam in the operation. I'll post pictures once I get under the car again (soon because I've got a leak at one of the header v-bands).

Finally, I replaced a window guide on my passenger door due to a find by John during paint. And I spent time replacing all of the door moldings, of which I found a major issue fitting my drip guards that required some nerve racking surgery and repaint. So, on with the pics:
