This project centers around the sub box which also serves as the amp / eq rack. The sub box I chose to build on was a BMW59703 Zenclosure that I custom spec'd to have the subwoofer firing towards the cabin. The reasoning at the time is that I thought the amps would hold up to luggage better than the fragile cone of the subwoofer. Additionally, I thought the bulk of the trunk space would benefit the amps for cooling vs being sandwiched against the seat's sheetmetal. Speaking of sheetmetal; I also opted to cut out the factory ski pass through port that was offered as an option from BMW. This pass-through will now serve as a bass port to the cabin :D
The only downside I grappled with was the loss of trunk space. I decided I could manage if the enclosure was reasonably easy to remove. To accomplish this I decided to create quick disconnects for the power leads, speakers, and sources.
