Most of my experience with N64s has been via emulation. Starting on ground zero with UltraHLE, most of my N64 projects involved native controller to PC integration including a particularly long engagement with a wireless conversion that's seen 4 revisions to date. Still, in the late 90s my family actually owned real N64 hardware and decades after it parted ways I became interested in video upgrade paths.
For this project, I ended up modding two NUS-CPU-05 N64s. One with Tim Worthington's N64RGB and the other with PixelFX's N64Digital. The difference being that the N64RGB upgrades the analog multiout to include a nicely deblurred RGB signal while the N64Digital completely re-encodes the N64's digital AV signals into an upscaled HDMI output. Of course, both systems were treated to my standard deep clean process.
First up, we have the N64RGB Install
Next it was on to the N64Digital
