Tonight was all about breaking down the intake to make my way to the engine valley. The end goal being a valley pan reseal which is another common issue (leaks) on the M62TU engine.
- Started on the interior removal but quickly found out that I need power to move the seats around for removal. The car battery is deep cycled to death, so I’ll experiment with a small aux battery in the future.
- Removed brackets for plastic engine cover
- Removed plastic valve cover covers
- Disconnected spark plug grounds
- Disconnected spark plug coils
- Unclipped each injector connection then removed harness, unplugging sensors as I went
- Unbolted fuel rail then removed with injectors. Found missing injector clips + missing o-rings
- Unbolted Intake manifold, then pulled hard to separate
- Disconnected CCV piping
- Vacuumed out intake ports (still dirty) then stuffed with shop towels
